The Nicole R. White Memorial Scholarship honors
Nicole’s memory and continues to keep her love of life and compassion to
humanity alive. Nicole at the young age 20, was murdered at Virginia Tech along
with 31 others on April 16, 2007. Nicole White was a fiery red head from
Smithfield, Virginia, who loved life and most of all people and animals. It was
through her love, conviction and compassion that she became a very active member
in her community and was able to reach out to other communities through her
volunteering. The Nicole R. White Memorial Scholarship
website will be used as an avenue to inform, educate, share memories
and most of all continue her legacy of reaching out in support of all
communities. http://www.nicolewhite.org/
The Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA has
initiated a scholarship through our endowment fund to honor Nicole White who was
one of the thirty-two Virginia Tech students who died on
April 16,2007. Nicole was a lifeguard for the Luter Family YMCA in Smithfield
and volunteered many hours each week both for the YMCA and for various
organizations in her community. The scholarship will be presented each spring to
one senior at Smithfield High School for use at a state university of their
choice. Through her acts of love and generosity, Nicole will forever leave a
lasting legacy.

Tricia and Mike White are very good friends and they've
established this scholarship to help keep Nicole's memory and love for
life & community alive. It's also to provide an opportunity for a local
Smithfield High School senior to continue Nicole's love for volunteerism and
work within the community. Thanks.
